Trauma, Anxiety, and Other Stressors

Trauma is the response to a deeply disturbing or distressing event that overwhelms a person’s ability to think and function normally. The severity of an individual’s experience of trauma varies and there’s no one reason why people experience it. PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a common type of anxiety and results not just from war, natural disaster, and physical or emotional abuse, but also from betrayal, loss of control, and pain. It will be important for Solaris Family Counseling to address the root cause of your trauma as this may be affecting your habits and attitudes.

There are a lot of intrusive thoughts that can overwhelm a person and make it difficult to face everyday life. These often manifest themselves as depression, OCD, and anxiety. Though it is possible to live with these stressors, Solaris Family Counseling can help you overcome them and navigate a way to be charge of your thoughts and your life. Our counselors provide the emotional support and guidance necessary to develop a healthy relationship with your thoughts, which is an important step in this process.
